Drug addiction, like porn addiction, can be treated in a number of ways. Depending on the individual addicts’ own needs there are many forms of treatment available.

Many people are familiar with programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). These programs usually utilize a 12-step program that can be adapted to treat many different forms of addiction. For many people this might be the most familiar form of drug addiction treatment.

Another form of substance abuse treatment is outpatient drug treatment. In this setting patients are required to come into treatment at the facility but are free to go home after treatment is finished for the day. These treatments can be tailored to the needs of patients. Some patients choose to attend treatment during the day and others choose to attend during the evening to work around work and family commitments.

Outpatient services may encourage their patients to also attend 12-step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous to provide an extra layer of support during recovery.

For some addictions, patients may need to be supervised during the withdrawal process and may need to spend a greater amount of time at the facility to receive the proper level of care.

The intensity of outpatient substance abuse treatment will vary depending on the drug treatment facility and the severity of the addiction being treated. As a person progresses through their recovery the treatment may become less intensive as the patient learns to cope with their addiction.

The effects of drug addiction may be similar to porn addiction effects and for some people be severe enough to require inpatient substance abuse treatment. In these more extreme scenarios addicts may be best served in a residential treatment facility specializing in substance abuse treatment.

Inpatient treatment programs are designed for patients to stay at the rehabilitation facility for an extended period of time. This form of treatment is very effective at treating the effects of porn addiction and is a treatment useful to treat severe substance abuse issues as well.

Patients who attend an inpatient treatment program often transition to an outpatient program to continue their journey through recovery.
