Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we’ve had to make some changes to our pornography and sex addiction treatment program at Desert Solace inpatient residential treatment facility.
First, and most importantly, we’ve taken measures to ensure that both patients and staff are practicing social distancing. We’ve taken great care to address key safety and hygienic concerns to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We’re working diligently to follow the recommendations of governments, the CDC prevention guidelines, and advice from the WHO regarding COVID-19.
We’ve had to make adjustments to the program due to the recreational center being closed down and 12-step meetings no longer taking place.
Currently Desert Solace is holding more outdoor recreational activities. Here in St. George, Utah the weather is wonderful and the scenery is amazing. Our patients and staff are enjoying hiking through the beautiful scenery of south Utah.
Desert Solace has also set-up our own in-house 12-step meetings to help aid the recovery of our patients.
Of course we’re keeping up with our patients’ families. Family will continue to be involved in treatment as necessary by phone.
During this time of crisis we are still encouraging people to practice mindfulness and living life purposefully and intentionally. One of the key factors influencing pornography and sex addiction is individuals avoiding uncomfortable thoughts and feelings by self-medicating through other outlets such as porn, sex, and other addictive behaviors.
Now more than ever it is important to avoid the stressors that can influence pornography and sex addiction. At Desert Solace we teach our patients to remember the acronym H-BLAST to aid in remembering the emotions that are often associated with addiction. We hope it might help you or a loved one struggling with addiction during this time of need.
