Jerri Jorgensen, along with her husband Mark, is the co-founder of Desert Solace residential treatment center.  As the wife of someone who battled pornography addiction for many years, she understands and relates to the unique struggles of family members caught in the chaos created by a loved one dealing with porn, sex, and related addictions.

Jerri’s education and background are in teaching. She has a master’s degree in education and has taught high school and college for 19 years, including teaching in Germany for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. She never dreamed she would one day be helping run a pornography addiction rehab.

But Jerri’s unlikely journey began (as is the case with most wives who suddenly find themselves having to deal with sex and pornography addiction) with the discovery of her own husband’s addiction. Once the initial shock and devastation had worn off, Jerri offered what she considered foolproof advice to Mark: “just stop it!” She soon learned, however, that overcoming pornography addiction is much more complicated than just changing behavior.

As Jerri learned about all aspects – mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual – of sexual addiction, she developed a passion for assisting other families who faced similar challenges, which culminated in her and Mark founding Desert Solace in 2011.

Because of her personal experience and educational background, Jerri brings a unique gift to Desert Solace. In her role as family liaison for Desert Solace, she supports and coaches the wives and/or parents of the clients through weekly calls, message boards, and monthly family weekends. Her goal is to assist family members with their own healing separate and apart from the addict they love. Her advice to wives (and other family members) of those struggling with addiction is best summed up by what Jerri calls the three C’s: “you didn’t cause it, you can’t control it, and you can’t cure it.”

Her passion for healing and recovery are exemplified through her zest for healthy living; including relational, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being, and serve as a powerful example to those hurt by loved ones experiencing sex and porn addiction.

“Miracles occur here at Desert Solace as family members experience the joy of hope, healing and recovery and their loved one experiences the same.”
